The Mayor’s Gallery presents “Voice of Ukraine”  political and philosophical paintings by Oksana Tanasiv July 7 – September 2, 2014 .

Opening Reception: July 8, from 5:30 -7:30 pm  "

Oksana Tanasiv is Ukrainian-American Artist. She was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the USA in 2004.  Since 2011,strongly influenced by political and economic issues in her home country, Oksana began to develop the series of Dollar Art as a protest against a corrupted regime and dictatorship. This collection is created by using the artist’s technique of placing dollar bills on painted canvas that deliver important political and  philosophical messages. “Voice of Ukraine” is a political collection of realistic and surrealistic images with collage.

The collection was created by using the artist’s personal technique of dollar bill images on canvas to portray the weakness of corrupted regimes and  government’s ignorance to the social economic issues, greediness and officials’ larceny. Only through the use of the dollar image was the artist able to transfer important messages revealing the shocking reality. The collection “Voice of Ukraine” is a collection of realistic and surrealistic images, portraying the Kiev revolution, political conflicts with Russia, and the Ukrainian people’s patriotic fight for a better future.   Oksana Tanasiv is a well recognized  international modern artist with artwork in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and Ukraine.
