Bridgeport Theatre Company Presents "The Music Man"

Downtown Cabaret Theatre
5/4/12 - 5/20/12

Bridgeport Theatre Company completes its second season with “The Music Man,” running May 4-20 with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 5pm.

“The Music Man” became a hit on Broadway in 1957, winning five Tony Awards including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. With some of Broadway’s most beautiful and entertaining songs and a book filled with humor, charm and heart, “The Music Man” is a show that the whole family can enjoy. The show takes place in Iowa in 1912 and tells the story of Professor Harold Hill, a con man looking to start a boys band without being able to play one note of music, and Marian Paroo, the uptight librarian and only person in town immune to Harold’s massive charms. Once Marian sees the joy that Harold is bringing to the children of the sleepy River City, though, she finally lets herself succumb not only to his charms, but to the first love she’s ever known.

Bridgeport Theatre Company proudly presents this show featuring an entire chorus of talented local children, two very charismatic leading men, a soaring soprano, and even a barbershop quartet. Audiences will hear such popular songs as “Till There Was You,” “76 Trombones,” “Trouble,” “My White Knight,” and of course, “The Wells Fargo Wagon!”

“The Music Man” is presented with direction by Joel Fenster, musical direction by Eli Newsom, and choreography by Lauren Sherwood. The cast of over 30 actors from in and around Fairfield county and beyond includes: John Atkin (Norwalk), Taylor Berlin (Trumbull), Caitlin Brown (Fairfield), Colleen Brown (Fairfield), Drew Camputaro (Milford), Katy Curtis (Wilton), Jim Farrell (Stratford), Tyler Felson (Guilford), Faith Fernandes (Shelton), Lidiane Fernandes (Bridgeport), Scott Ferrara (Stamford), Evelynne Fulda (Fairfield), Marie Fulda (Fairfield), Andrea Garmun (Milford), Daniel Giraldo (Bridgeport), Miah Hudler (Shelton), Marc Improta (Shelton), Rachel Kadlick (Norwalk), Maggie Kruse (Fairfield), Marnie Kruse (Fairfield), Emma LaPlace (Fairfield), Jack Levis (Oxford), Nicole Madar (Shelton), Charlotte Masi (Milford), Kalle Meehan (Fairfield), Adelaide Meny (Fairfield), Darin Meny (Fairfield), Elizabeth Meny (Fairfield), Kevin Pelkey (Beacon Falls), Rene Ragan (Bridgeport), Sean Reynolds (Stratford), Rowan Robinson (Trumbull), Betsy Simpson (Westport), Candice Sisbarro (Stratford), Kevin Thompson (Stamford), Anika Vanderwal (Bridgeport), and Nina Yasick (Woodbridge).
