The Fairfield County Preservation Network invites you to join us for our first Membership Meeting of 2018. The theme for this meeting will be exploring how land trusts and land conservation groups can work with preservationists, collaboratively, to attempt to save and restore landscapes and their buildings and create newly energized places.Brief presentations will be followed by Q&A and discussion.

We are delighted to welcome Amy Blaymore Paterson, Executive Director of the Connecticut Land Conservation Council, who has a long history and deep experience in land preservation and environmental protection, as our opening speaker. Amy will give an overview of land trusts, how they operate, and the opportunities for working together with preservationists and preservation groups.

Dale Bertoldi, President of the Wintonbury Land Trust, which partnered with the Town of Bloomfield, CT DEEP, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service to purchase the Hawk Hill Preserve in Bloomfield will briefly discuss that transaction and his experience in working with conservationists and preservationists.

FCPN Steering Committee member Laurie Heiss will then make a short, synoptic presentation of some other specific cases in which land trust organizations, preservationists and towns have worked together to save and revive properties that include important historical landscapes and their buildings. Properties include Fodor Farm, Norwalk; Lachat Farm, Weston; Charles Ives House, Redding; Wakeman Farm, Westport; and Bolton Heritage Farm.
