Wire 101- Basic Wire Working- JEWELRY/SILVERSMITHING WORKSHOP

Come explore the wonderful world of wire! You will be introduced to the basic wire jewelry techniques needed to design and create your own unique wire jewelry. Become familiar with the "tools of the trade" and their proper uses as you acquire techniques to use wire for making earrings, charms, necklaces, etc... You will receive an overview of the fittings and tools available and where to find them. Learn how to wrap "top drilled" as well as "center (hole) drilled" beads and pendants in both simple and embellished styles. Along the way, we will cover the characteristics of wire and the subtleties of various types and gauges. This is a technique oriented class. Student's abilities will determine which projects are made and completed during the first class. Materials: Wire is provided. Students should bring beads, pliers if they have them (round nose pliers or chain nose pliers and cutters). If students with to use sterling silver, they should bring their own, or purchase it from the instructor. No experience necessary.
