"Across Disciplines"
Franklin Street Works invites regional artists to submit proposals for its nascent, ongoing evening program “Across Disciplines”. This program’s attention to the fluid relationships between popular culture, the humanities, and the visual arts supports Franklin Street Works’ mission while providing additional opportunities for regional artists to share their work with the public.
Each proposal should include two components: an artist gives a talk that focuses on how another discipline has influenced his/her work. The artist can also work with Franklin Street Works to either include a co-presenter from or organize a separate event featuring the influential discipline. For example a painter might be influenced by music and, in addition to a talk s/he would invite a composer as co-presenter or program a related music event (with Franklin Street Works support).
Franklin Street Works is a new, not-for-profit contemporary art space that embraces innovative art and exhibition practices, a DIY attitude, and a workshop approach to its programming, audiences, and organizational structure. Send proposals to: Terri Smith at: terri@franklinstreetworks.org.
